I carried my bag after taking a quick look at my room,I walked slowly to the sitting room where my mum was already sitted,I sat down ready for the normal talk our parents give us before going to school. She cleared her throat and started,Moyinoluwa you are going back to school now, please know the daughter of whom you are,be careful with friends the lord will continue to be with you and make sure you keep your phone she added. Of course I will, the phone is just a month old,I so much cherish the phone,it was a gift from my elder brother So I have to cherish it like have got no other phone,I
thought as I stood up ready to go.I thanked mum and dropped some naira notes for my siblings and I left home. I boarded a taxi to Isale-eko to quickly check on my grandma before going to school,I stayed with her for about thirty minutes discussing and she prayed for me before I finally left her place and board another taxi going to school. I alighted from the taxi when I got to my destination after which I stopped a bike man and gave him directions to my hostel,he took my bag and I mounted the bike and he zoomed-off,he dropped me in front of my hostel where I paid him and he left.I carried my bag inside my room and met my school mother a very caring lady, she is more like a sister to me I really love her,we hug and started chatting immediately. The battery on my phone was already low so I took the new charger I bought from home and went out to charge,my school had no power supply since
Febuary, students had to source for means of charging their phones, laptops, the PHCN officers announced that each hostel should pay a sum of three thousand before they restore the light back unfortunately for some hostel they paid the money and the light has not being restored till now,bad belle people! I was lucky because directly opposite my room, a barber sited his shop there,he did a socket outside the shop where students do charge. I plugged my phone and switched on my phone almost immediately, opened my whatsapp and chat with some of my friends.I left the barber's shop few minutes to nine and I entered my room. My school mother had prepared dinner,I dished my food and sat down at a corner inside our room, after about thirty minutes I heard a knock,I stood up and went to the door. "Hi" a voice greeted me, "Hello" I replied him trying to
figure out who was knocking at our door at that time of the night. Guy: Please did you helped me with my phone,I was charging it there(pointing towards the barber's shop),I guess the barber switched off the generator not quite long but I couldn't find my phone again,he explained. Me: No I didn't pack any phone inside,I left the barber's shop before he switched-off the generator, try to check the other rooms I replied him he,he gave me a last look as if trying to figure out if I was joking or serious with what he just heard then he simply shrugged with sadness written all over his face. I went inside, locked the door and said to myself "he has every right to ask if I helped him with his phone because each time myself or my school mother charge our phones, the barber might switch off his generator and people who plug their phones might not know so we do pack such phones or lamps inside our room untill the owner shows up,I
wouldn't blame the guy who happens to be one of my hostel mates. I woke up a bit late the next morning, prayed and did my morning chores I had no lecture that morning so I had the time to do a lot of things,I later saw the guy who came to knock my door the previous night and he told me he couldn't find the phone again,I consoled him saying he will still see the phone. I came back from school in the evening, helped my school mum in the kitchen after which I ate and went to the barber's shop to charge,I plugged my phone and was charging when my departmental president who happens to be my school father came there to charge. He asked for my charger which I unplugged from the socket and gave to him,by then students charging there phones were not much I went inside and opened my whatsapp to chat with my friends. After about one hour,I went outside to meet him but he was not outside
again I called him and asked where he was,he told me he is in his hostel sleeping and begged me to help him keep his phone when I want to go and sleep,I dropped the call and sat down outside where he was charging the phone,I removed his power bank and plugged my phone. Two ladies sitting down next to me were discussing something useless,I quietly left the place and entered my room with the power bank leaving the two phones outside to charge. As soon as I got inside the room,I met my small mummy sleeping I sat down with the hope of going outside to pack the phones as soon as the generator is switched off.Lo and behold,I woke up around few minutes to eleven then I remembered that my phone and that of my school father were outside.
